We’re Koala-fied to install your new mini split system. Our licensed technicians follow manufacturer specifications to ensure your mini split delivers maximum efficiency, quiet operation, and long-lasting performance. We don’t just install your system — we install it the right way, so you enjoy dependable comfort all year long.

Here’s why homeowners install Mini-splits.

  • Independent operation – Perfect for garages, offices, or guest rooms that could use their own heating and cooling upgrade for year-round comfort.
  • Easy installation – No major ductwork or remodeling required, so it’s quick and noninvasive.
  • Energy efficiency – Only heat or cool the areas you need, helping reduce energy costs.
  • Remote controlled comfort – Adjust the temperature right from your handheld remote or smartphone app, completely independent from your home’s main HVAC systems.

If you’re looking to add efficient, customizable comfort to a space outside your main HVAC system, a mini-split is the ideal solution.

How much does a mini-split installation cost in Austin and Round Rock?

Mini-split installation in Central Texas typically runs $4,500 to $8,000 for a single-zone system (one outdoor unit, one indoor head) and $8,000 to $22,000 for multi-zone systems with two to five heads. The big variables are how many zones you need, the BTU capacity required for each space, the brand (Mitsubishi and Daikin sit at the premium end; Bosch and LG are competitive mid-tier), the SEER2 efficiency rating, and whether your existing electrical panel can support the new circuit or needs an upgrade. We provide all-in flat-rate pricing before any work begins — no surprises. PLEASE NOTE: Pricing does not include adding a breaker and running electrical conduit to the unit. This has to be done by a licensed electrician.

How many indoor units can one outdoor unit support?

Most residential outdoor condensers support one to five indoor heads, with some commercial units supporting up to eight. Single-zone systems pair one outdoor unit with one indoor head and are the most efficient setup. Multi-zone systems are convenient because you only have one outdoor unit visible from the yard, but they have a small efficiency penalty (around 5-10%) compared to running multiple single-zone systems. For most homeowners adding mini-splits to two or three rooms, a multi-zone outdoor unit is the right tradeoff — less yard clutter, one outdoor connection, easier maintenance.

Are mini-splits more efficient than traditional ducted HVAC?

Generally yes, especially in older Texas homes. Ducted systems lose 15-30% of their conditioned air to leaky ducts in attics — and Central Texas attics regularly hit 130°F+ in summer, which makes those losses even worse. Mini-splits skip the ducts entirely, so the energy you pay for is the energy your room actually gets. Modern inverter-driven mini-splits also modulate continuously instead of cycling on and off, which keeps temperatures steady and reduces wear. SEER2 ratings on quality mini-splits range from 19 to 33+ — well above the federal minimum for traditional systems (15 SEER2 in our region).

Where do mini-splits make the most sense?

The most common Central Texas use cases we see: garages converted to home offices or gyms, finished attics or bonus rooms that the central system can't keep up with, additions where extending ductwork would be expensive or impossible, sunrooms with heavy solar load, ADUs and casitas, primary bedrooms that run hot or cold compared to the rest of the house, and workshops. Anywhere you need independent temperature control or where ductwork is impractical, a mini-split is the right answer. We don't recommend mini-splits as a whole-home replacement when you already have functioning ductwork — a traditional system is usually a better long-term value in that scenario.

Do mini-splits work in Texas summer heat?

Yes, reliably. Modern inverter-driven mini-splits are rated for outdoor temperatures well above what we see in Central Texas — most maintain full cooling capacity up to 115°F and continue operating (with some derating) above that. The 100°F+ stretches we see in July and August are well within normal operating range. The bigger issue with mini-splits in our climate isn't heat tolerance — it's making sure the system is correctly sized for the room. An undersized unit will run constantly and struggle on the hottest days regardless of how good the equipment is, which is why we do an actual load calculation before recommending a system.

Do mini-splits heat as well as cool?

Almost all modern mini-splits are heat pumps, meaning they heat and cool from the same equipment. In Central Texas this is a real advantage: our mild winters are well within a heat pump's efficient operating range, so you get reliable heat without the cost of installing a separate furnace. Heating performance starts to drop below 30°F outdoor temperature, but we rarely see that in Austin and Round Rock. For garages and additions where the alternative would be electric resistance heating (expensive) or a gas furnace (overkill and complicated), a mini-split heat pump is usually the right answer.

How long does a mini-split installation take?

A single-zone installation is typically a half-day to one full day of work — mount the outdoor unit, mount the indoor head, drill the wall penetration, run the refrigerant line set and condensate drain, make the electrical connection, vacuum and charge the system, then commission and test. Multi-zone installations with two to five heads usually take one to two days depending on the complexity of routing line sets through walls and ceilings. We give you a specific timeline at the estimate, and we don't leave the job until the system is running, the work area is cleaned up, and you understand how to operate the remote.

What mini-split brands do you install?

We install Mitsubishi, Daikin, LG, Bosch, and Carrier mini-splits. Mitsubishi and Daikin are the long-standing leaders in ductless technology with the deepest product lines and the strongest warranty backing — they sit at the premium end of pricing for good reason. LG and Bosch are excellent mid-tier options that offer most of the performance at a lower upfront cost. We're an authorized dealer for the major brands we install, which means factory-trained installation and the full manufacturer warranty stays intact. We'll lay out two or three real options at your estimate so you can decide what fits your budget and priorities.

Are mini-splits noisy?

Quieter than almost anything else in your home. Indoor heads typically operate at 19-32 decibels on low speed — quieter than a library whisper, and substantially quieter than a window AC unit (which usually runs 50-60 dB). Outdoor condensers run at 50-58 dB, which is meaningfully quieter than traditional AC condensers. If noise is a primary concern — for a bedroom, home office, or recording space — we can recommend models that prioritize quiet operation even within the major brands.

Do you offer financing for mini-split installation?

Yes. We partner with several lenders for financing on mini-split installations, with approvals typically returned in a few minutes. Many homeowners qualify for low-APR or 0% intro plans that make the monthly cost manageable while the energy savings start working immediately. See our Financing page for current options.

Are there tax credits or rebates available for mini-splits in 2026?

The federal Section 25C tax credit for heat-pump-based equipment, including mini-split heat pumps, expired on December 31, 2025, and is not available for 2026 installations. Local utility rebates remain active, though. Austin Energy offers rebates averaging $800 for qualifying high-efficiency systems, with larger rebates available through their Home Energy Savings whole-home program. Round Rock and surrounding utility districts have their own programs. We identify every rebate you qualify for based on your specific address and utility provider and handle the paperwork at no extra charge.
